Lithium Tantalate (LiTaO3) Wafers

Jingxin New Materials is a professional lithium tantalate wafer manufacturer, supplying SAW grade and optical grade LiTaO3 single crystal wafers from 3" to 6" in diameter — with good piezoelectric coupling coefficient and temperature stability for high-end SAW filters. Crystal growth, slicing, polishing and inspection all run on our own line at our ISO-certified facility in Zhuji, Zhejiang.

LiTaO3 wafers stacked in cassette carrier

Lithium Tantalate (LiTaO3) wafers feature good piezoelectric coupling coefficient and temperature stability, making them a core substrate for high-end SAW filters — available in SAW grade and optical grade, supporting 3" to 6" diameters. SAW grade and optical grade share the same raw material standard; only the downstream processing differs.

Lithium Tantalate or Lithium Niobate Wafers?

Both are SAW-grade piezoelectric wafer materials — the right choice depends on your coupling coefficient, temperature and diameter requirements.

Lithium Tantalate (LiTaO3) Wafers — this page

Higher electromechanical coupling than lithium niobate and quartz, with different temperature behavior — commonly used in high-end SAW filters and pyroelectric infrared sensors. Available up to 6" in diameter.

Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) Wafers

Even higher coupling for wider bandwidth, suited to SAW filters and optical modulators. Available up to 8" in diameter — the largest diameter across our three material lines.

SAW Grade LT Wafers

SAW devices depend on a piezoelectric material with high electromechanical coupling to achieve wide-bandwidth filtering. LiTaO3's coupling coefficient exceeds both lithium niobate and quartz, making it a common choice for high-end SAW filters. Our SAW grade LiTaO3 wafers are polished to S/D 20/10 surface quality with parallelism held to ≤10 arc sec, in cut orientations common to high-end filter designs (X112°, Y28°, Y36°, Y42°, 38° and YZ), with custom orientations available on request.

Optical Grade LT Wafers

Optical grade LiTaO3 wafers offer high optical transmittance and low absorption loss (<0.1%/cm at 633nm, optical homogeneity Δn ≤ 5×10⁻⁵), suitable for electro-optic modulators, optical waveguides and optical switches where optical cleanliness matters. Supplied in X-cut, Y-cut and Z-cut orientations, confirmed against your device design.

Crystal Ingot

LT Crystal Ingot

Crystal traders, research labs, or manufacturers with their own slicing and polishing lines sometimes need the raw ingot rather than a finished wafer. We supply LiTaO3 ingots in lapped, rough-polished or fine-polished surface conditions, so you can pick up the process at whichever stage fits your own capability. If you'd rather skip the equipment investment, send us your target spec — our wafer processing services handle slicing through final inspection, on your material or ours.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about material grades, customized parameters, and delivery options.

What's the difference between LT and LN for SAW filters?

LT has a higher electromechanical coupling coefficient than LN, making it well suited to high-performance RF filters, while LN offers a wider range of orientations and diameters.

Can I buy crystal ingots instead of finished wafers?

Yes — see the Crystal Ingot section above, or send us your own material through our wafer processing services.

What's the maximum diameter for LT wafers?

Our LiTaO3 wafers are available up to 6" in diameter, across both SAW grade and optical grade.

Do you offer black / blackened LT wafers?

Yes — our reduction-treatment blackening technology applies to both LN and LT. See our black wafers page for details.
